The department of Beautification, Parks and Gardens is saddled with the Maintenance/Management of Beautification/Landscaped sites, parks and gardens across the State, as well as the establishment of green areas to reduce pollution and protect and improve the aesthetic value of the environment.

Functions of the Department
Maintenance/Management and Monitoring of cities & towns’ lawns, Greenery and Urban tree planting;
Promotion of landscaping of both public and private open spaces (either soft or hand);
Beautification of open spaces and setbacks;
Visuals and other environmental aesthetics enhancement work (e.g.) monitoring of signage, removal of dilapidated structures, cities and towns decoration, etc.);
Establishment and maintenance of nurseries, greenery and horticultural parks;
Establishment/licensing of parks (recreational, conservation, educational, ecological, memorial, etc.), ecological gardens and eco-tourist centers;
Monitoring of the establishment of parks, gardens and recreational facilities within neighbourhood;
General intervention work on some selected sites/parks to complement the monthly maintenance exercise.
