The vision of the Ministry is to have an environment with clean and safe air, land and water that sustains healthy communities, ecosystem functions and development that meet the needs of present and future generations.
About Us
About Ondo Ministry of Environment
The Ondo State Ministry of Environment was created in year 2001 following the Federal Ministry of Environment policy mandating every State to establish a Ministry that will be saddled with the responsibilities of coordinating, managing, regulating and monitoring all activities in relation to environment.
Consequently, the then State Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) which was created in year 1993 and had been performing similar functions as stipulated by the Federal Government metamorphosized to Ondo State Ministry of Environment and additional staff were recruited to accommodate the envisaged larger scope of functions.
The Ministry has ten functional departments namely:
- Pollution Control and Sanitation Dept
- Ecology Dept.
- Beautification, Parks and Garden Dept.
- Planning, Research, and Statistics Dept.
- Environmental Assessment Dept.
- Climate Change Dept
- Legal Services Dept.
- Monitoring and Environmental Task Force (approved by Mr. Governor)
- Finance and Administration Department
- Account Department
- Press Unit under the supervision of the office of the Hon. Commissioner.
The Ministry also has three Parastatals under its supervision which are:
- Ondo State Waste Management Board
- Ondo State Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP)
- Ondo State Environmental Protection Agency

The mission is to facilitate good governance for the protection, restoration and conservation of the environment, as well as equitable and sustainable development with voluntary participation of the citizenry.
