The Ondo State Ministry of Environment was created in the year 2001 following the Federal Ministry of Environment policy mandating every State to establish a Ministry that will be saddled with the responsibilities of coordinating, managing, regulating, and monitoring all activities in relation to the environment.
Consequently, the then State Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) which was created in year 1993 and had been performing similar functions as stipulated by the Federal Government metamorphosized to Ondo State Ministry of Environment and additional staff were recruited to accommodate the envisaged larger scope of functions
